FIRST LADY:

dR. BARBARA h. jOHNSON

Dr. Johnson has been a professional nurse for over 30 years. Her focus on nurturing and caring has spurred her educational pursuits in the healthcare field. She earned BSN and MSN degrees in nursing and a PhD in nursing education. She has used her educational blessings to humbly serve others. Initially,  she began providing direct nursing care to the most critically ill children and adults. Sensing a need to increase the numbers of direct caregivers, she began sharing her knowledge by encouraging and instructing others to become nurses.

Dr. Johnson remains committed to facilitating the educational development of future generations of health care administrators, practitioners, and health policymakers.  She constantly encourages her students to strive for excellence. She has received numerous accolades for her unique teaching methods. Dr. Johnson is also a published author and a noted speaker on health care education.

Dr. Johnson is a committed woman of God. She considers all of her educational achievements, opportunities afforded, and accolades received as “fuel for the journey”. She has a heart for service and mind to work. She views God as priority in her life. Her goal is God…her enthusiasm is God…her walk is with God. At Mt. Buria, Dr. Johnson serves as facilitator of the Women’s Ministry and Alternate Teacher for the Adult Sunday School Class.  Believing in the necessity for communication among the church body, she also serves as the acting website administrator and is in the process of developing a church newsletter.

She has given many presentations and workshops, both locally and nationally, focusing on living and growing as a Christian woman. Dr. Johnson has been blessed with the spiritual gift of teaching God’s Word. She uses her talent to inspire, encourage, empower and support women in their walk with the Lord. 

Personal Statement: Although I have been blessed with many accomplishments in this life, I am humbly reminded of God’s abiding presence. It is not I who is great, but it is the Spirit of the Lord within me that is great. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
